Recipients

Since 1961, the North East Council and their generous friends have helped 195 North East District students attend college through the Blossom Scholarship fund.

The recipients of the Blossom Scholarship are high school seniors who will study the field of education while at college. They are chosen because they have traits that are likely to make them a successful educator. Academic success, good character, leadership, and participation in outside activities are all considered in the selection process. To continue to receive payment from the scholarship fund, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and continue to study education as a major.

What the recipients have to say...

"Not only was it good to have the financial support, but it was good to know that there were people who wanted to support me in my efforts to pursue a career in education. As I get close to graduation, and becoming a REAL teacher, I get more excited about classroom interaction and my students. I am very thankful for this scholarship. It still encourages me that the scholarship committee wants to help students who want to be teachers. Education is a noble profession. Thank you for keeping the dream alive!"

I know that being able to help and encourage students the way that I have been helped and encouraged by my teachers will be a great blessing."

"This scholarship has helped me in many ways. Directly, I have been able to use the scholarship to help finance my education, but most importantly it has helped to keep me motivated and strive for success. Due to the academic requirements of the scholarship, I have focused more on my studies to achieve better grades."

"I feel very honored that I was selected to receive one of your scholarships. I plan to major in Liberal Studies and Mathematics in order to become certified to teach grades four through twelve, so your scholarship will greatly help in furthering my college endeavors. In addition, your generous award will assist me in becoming someone who will give back to the community and help future generations attain a strong foundation in mathematics."
